Roland Elgey has been named senior vice-president of IDG Books' new consumer publishing division. In the newly created position, Elgey will be responsible for IDG's Dummies series and the recently acquired Cliffs Notes line. In addition, Elgey will lead IDG Books' efforts to expand into new consumer areas.
Before joining IDG, Elgey had worked in various capacities at Macmillan, including serving as president of Que and, most recently, as senior v-p of the general reference division. Late last month, Pearson put the general reference division up for sale. At IDG, Elgey will report to company president Steven Berkowitz.
