Jane Dystel Literary Management is only six years old but is growing rapidly; with three new hires in the first quarter of this year alone, the staff is now up to eight.
According to president Jane Dystel, the agency business -- centered around books and their authors -- is the "one constant factor" in the current turmoil in the publishing and retailing fields, and her agency's expansion is a reflection of that.
New hire Jessica Jones worked at S&S and BDD before going to law school and briefly running her own literary agency. Stacey Glick comes from the movie and TV world, having held jobs at PolyGram and Hearst Entertainment. Jo Fagan, who also joined last month, worked at Crown for more than 20 years, most recently as v-p and director of subsidiary rights.
They join a staff that also includes Miriam Goderich, a v-p and newly named partner, and Todd Keithley, who came aboard two years ago after working as an editor at SMP and Dutton.
