The Perseus Book Group went online during BookExpo America with a Web site devoted to its imprints. The site is hosted by Perseus's Westview imprint.
"We're acting as the central clearinghouse for the database, and we've spent a lot of time adding all the imprints," said David Tobey, Westview's Web services manager. The site (www.perseusbooksgroup.com) features a searchable online catalogue of 3000 front- and backlist titles from all Perseus imprints (Perseus, Basic Books, PublicAffairs, Counterpoint Press, Da Capo Press and Basic Civitas Books).
The site features category pages (with featured titles) and subcategory pages. It also allows teachers and professors to order books to be considered for class adoption. There is no direct selling from the site, which points interested consumers to a variety of online retailers.
