Storey Books has signed a sales and distribution agreement with Workman Publishing, effective November 1.
Under the agreement, Workman will pick up distribution for Storey, which specializes in how-to guides to country living and is based in Pownal, Vt. Most sales will be handled by Workman's sales force, with special accounts remaining with Storey reps. These accounts, according to Workman spokesperson Ellen Morgenstern, are not in the book trade. As to whether other distribution deals are in the offing, Morgenstern said that the two companies have a "great chemistry,"yet, she added, Workman will be "very selective"about future distribution deals.
All orders before November 1 will be covered by the terms of Storey's current distributor, Random House; returns to Random will be accepted through January 31, 2000.
Storey publishes about 50 new titles a year and boasts a backlist of more than 350 titles.
