Educational Development Corp. reversed a two-year slide of declining sales with a 6.3% sales gain to $4.2 million in the second quarter, ended August 31, 1999. Net earnings in the period rose to $313,600 from $307,000 in last year's second quarter. The sales improvement was led by a 22% increase in EDC's home business division, with sales topping $2 million in the quarter.
For the first six months of the year, sales were up 2.5% to $8.3 million, while earnings fell to $603,900 from $657,000. EDC president Randall White said he was optimistic that the upward sales trend will continue.
