Charlie Hayward, who headed Little, Brown for five years until his departure in 1996, will take over as president and chief operating officer of Daily Racing Form Inc. on January 1, 2000. Hayward replaces William Dow, who was named vice-chairman of DRF. Hayward is a longtime horse-racing fan; he served on the board of the New York Racing Association from 1995 until his resignation last week. Since leaving LB, Hayward has served as a consultant to a number of publishers, including Buena Vista Publishing, Rodale Press and DRF.
