Philip Blackwell has been named group chief executive at Blackwell Ltd., the company founded by his great grandfather. He will assume his new position January 1, succeeding Anthony Thompson, who is leaving to join the Gap as a vice-president. Blackwell is currently with Cap Gemini, a European IT firm.
Blackwell will oversee the company's worldwide books and information supply business. Both Dan Halloran, president and CEO of Blackwell's Book Services, and Alan Leitch, managing director of Blackwell Retail Ltd, will report to Blackwell.
