Fasquelle Retires At Grasset Herbert R. Lottman -- 12/13/99 Jean-Claude Fasquelle is retiring as chairman and publisher of Grasset. Grandson of Zola's publisher, Fasquelle will continue to hold 14% of the shares. With his departure, the structure of this literary imprint will be transformed into a directorate whose president is Olivier Nora, until now publisher of Hachette's Calmann-Levy. (Nora was once head of the French Publishers Agency based in New York.) The new bylaws also set up a supervisory board, of which Fasquelle, 69, is chairman. Under Nora as publisher, Grasset will retain editors Manuel Carcassonne and Christophe Bataille for French authors and Ariane Fasquelle (Jean-Claude's daughter) for the foreign list. |
