Another Executive to Leave IDG Books
Jim Milliot -- 1/10/00

Less than two months after IDG Books president and publisher Steve Berkowitz resigned from the company (News, Dec. 2, 1999), the publisher will lose a second top executive when chief financial officer Jim D hrman leaves his post January 14. D hrman is joining Octane Software, a provider of software for Internet-based customer relationship management.

An IDG Books spokesperson said a search is being conducted to find successors for both Berkowitz and D hrman as well as for someone to fill the spot of senior vice-president for consumer publishing, which has been open since Roland Elgey was promoted to senior v-p, marketing and sales late last year. Until a replacement for D hrman is found, Stuart Crumbaugh, director of SEC reporting and accounting, will be in charge of the company's financial and accounting operations.

In other developments at IDG Books, the publisher is now making available more than 230 Cliffs Notes literary guides and 16 business and technology titles through its CliffsNotes.com Web site. All titles are downloadable; the guides are priced at $4.99 each and the technology titles sell for $8.99.
