One of the least known but potentially one of the most significant international book fairs, the World Education Market (WEM) is gearing up for its second show, scheduled for May 18 to 21 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Bringing together both trade and school publishers with their counterparts in new media and Internet companies, TV producers and distributors, university faculty and management, and decision makers from government and industry, the first WEM last May gathered 467 exhibiting companies from 35 countries, working on some 40,000 square feet of exhibition space (with the largest contingents coming from Canada, the U.S., the U.K., France and Italy—in that order).
WEM is put together by Reed-Midem, which in France mounts the annual Milia interactive content show; like Milia and other Reed fairs, WEM will feature a conference program. It is scheduled for May 21, with the entire day devoted to panel sessions and workshops and supplemented by morning keynotes on each of the three following days.
