If further evidence is needed of Oprah Winfrey's bookselling clout (duh), we offer the case of The Dark Side of the Light Chasers: Reclaiming Your Power, Creativity, Brilliance, and Dreams. This Riverhead trade paperback (copies in print: 600,000+), published in June 1999, debuted on our list last November 20 following author Debbie Ford's October 30 full hour with you-know-who. Two more Oprah appearances—November 6 and 20—kept the book on the list through the end of last year. The Ford programs were re-aired earlier this year and The Dark Side jumped back onto our weekly lists. (Of course, Ford's April 6 spot on Good Morning America didn't hurt.) In addition, USA Today ran a story in February about Ford and her sister, Arielle, who's an agent, publicist and author (her latest, Hot Chocolate for the Mystical Lover, was published by Plume in January).
