Random House has promoted David Naggar from senior v-p and deputy director of sales for the Random House sales group to director of the unit. He will continue to report to Don Weisberg, president of the Random sales group, who has taken over responsibility for the company's information, audio and diversified groups following the departure of Erik Engstrom (News, Feb. 12). It was partly due to his additional duties that Weisberg turned over the reins of the day-to-day management of the entire sales group to Naggar.
The sales directors of Random's three sales forces, John Groton, Madeline McIntosh and Jack St. Mary, will report to Naggar in his new role, as will Adene Corns, v-p and director of advance marketing sales and club sales, and Ruth Liebmann, director, independent retail. Continuing to report to Naggar will be Skip Dye, v-p, sales administration and technology; Julie Black, director, sales strategic planning; Al Greco, director, national accounts marketing group; and Christian Waters, events director. Weisberg praised Naggar for his "encyclopedic knowledge of our business" plus his "authoritative insightfulness as a strategist."
