Mark Bowden's Killing Pablo is the first audiobook to be released as an enhanced CD (also known as CD+). Published in April by Simon & Schuster Audio, Killing Pablo tells the story of the manhunt for Colombian drug baron Pablo Escobar.
When played in a CD player, the enhanced CD sounds like a regular audiobook. But when played on a computer or laptop, it also offers the user three dramatic videos featuring exclusive footage and commentary from the actual participants in the hunt for Pablo Escobar. The excerpted footage comes from Mark Bowden's documentary Killing Pablo, which was originally aired on CNN and was produced by KR Video, the TV, Internet and digital media production division of Knight Ridder.
Gilles Dana, senior v-p and publisher of Simon & Schuster Audio, said, "We are proud to be the first to offer this exciting new enhanced CD, which allows users to relive the hunt with this two-in-one experience." The enhanced CD version of the abridged audiobook runs for six hours on five CDs and retails for $32. The title is also available on cassette.
