John J. Miller is the resident terrorism expert on ABC-TV, with experience going back to the World Trade Center bombing of eight years ago, and he has just signed to do a book for Hyperion called The Cell, which will offer an inside look, based on FBI and CIA sources, at the men who demolished the WTC on September 11. Writing with crime reporter Michael Stone, he will cover the investigation into the attack and analyze future terrorist dangers. Executive editor Leigh Haber signed the book for world rights plus first serial, audio and e-book, from agent Mark Reiter at IMG. The book is set for publication next April.
Meanwhile at Forge, senior editor David Hartwell has acquired Relentless Pursuit: The DSS and the Manhunt for the bin Laden Terrorists by Samuel M. Katz, an author with an impressive track record for books on aspects of terrorism and intelligence. The DSS in his title is the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service, which has been pursuing bin Laden and his minions ever since the 1993 WTC bombing, and served as Katz's source for much of his previously unpublished and now updated information. The book was originally signed some months ago, with agent AL Zuckerman at Writers House, but is now being moved up on the schedule, to next March, with a planned first printing of 100,000 copies.
