Reading Is Fundamental has chosen Carol Hampton Rasco to succeed Dr. William Truehart as president and CEO of the children's literacy organization. Her appointment was effective November 1.
Rasco began her career as a teacher in Arkansas and eventually joined the staff of then-governor Bill Clinton. Beginning in 1992, she served as assistant to the president for domestic policy, and in 1997 moved to the Department of Education, where she was director of the America Reads Challenge. Before joining RIF, Rasco was executive director of government relations for the College Board.
Rasco said she is "excited to build on RIF's history of motivating kids to read and fostering a nation of lifelong readers."
