Following her take last year on our former First Lady (The Case Against Hillary, which spent seven weeks on our list), White House insider Peggy Noonan turns to one of the country's most beloved leaders in When Character Was King: A Story of Ronald Reagan. Published by Viking on November 12 (copies in print: 145,000), the book has generated considerable media attention, with appearances on TV (Today, Hardball with Chris Matthews, CNBC's Tim Russert Show) and radio (with G. Gordon Liddy, David Brudnoy, Laura Ingrams, etc.) plus TV and radio satellite tours. Noonan, who's currently a columnist and contributing editor at the Wall Street Journal, wound up her four-city tour last week with a luncheon in Chicago sponsored by the Book Stall in Winnetka, Ill.
