Lightning Source has eliminated about 10% of its positions in a move that will affect approximately 15 people, a few of whom are expected to take unfilled spots at the company.
Lightning Source spokesperson Keel Hunt called the cuts a "rightsizing" that is part of moving the company from a start-up operation to a more mature business. "We also needed to do some fine-tuning to adjust to the marketplace," Hunt said. No changes were made in upper management with Ed Marino continuing to run Lightning Source as president and CEO.
The company, which opened a U.K. office this summer, recently reached an agreement with Amazon.com to provide digital infrastructure and fulfillment services for the e-retailer's new e-bookstores in the U.K. and Germany.
