As if further proof were needed about America's enduring fascination with the Kennedy clan, yet another family-member biography hits the national charts. American Son: A Portrait of John F. Kennedy, Jr., published by Holt on May 3 (copies in print: 150,000), is by Richard Blow, a journalist who worked at George magazine—first as senior editor, then as executive editor—from its inception in 1995 until 2000. Before heading out on his eight-city tour, Blow visited most of the usual suspects in the media world—Barbara Walters on 20/20, Katie Couric on Today, the ladies of The View, Bryant Gumbel on The Early Show, Wolf Blitzer on CNN, Greta van Susteran on Fox, etc. The book was featured in a People cover story, and Vanity Fair ran the first serialization in its May issue.
