No question about it, Tony Hillerman is having an excellent year. On May 4, the popular author received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Malice Domestic Convention, while his autobiography, Seldom Disappointed, won the Agatha Award for nonfiction at the same event. This fall, an earlier novel, Skinwalkers, will be featured on the PBS Mystery! series. His latest Southwestern mystery, The Wailing Wind, has received rave reviews—including a starred PW notice—and is enjoying its third week on our list. HarperCollins launched the book with a 275,000-copy printing; after three more trips to press, the number is up to 315,000.
