Susan Moffat Naythons, most recently director of marketing at Harper San Francisco, has joined Publishers Group West as executive v-p for sales, a new position. With Naythons's appointment, PGW has formed a new executive team that includes Naythons; Mark Ouimet, executive v-p, marketing; and Chris McKenney, executive v-p, operations. All three report to Charlie Winton, PGW president.
Winton said the new structure reflects the integration of Advanced Global Distribution, the distribution arm of PGW's new parent company, Advanced Marketing Services, with that of PGW. The reorganization also creates a team to run PGW once Winton makes his exit early next year.
Prior to the restructuring, sales and marketing had fallen under Ouimet, but Winton said the new organization will allow Ouimet to focus on publisher relations and new client acquisition as well as to develop the company's international operations. Among those reporting to Ouimet are Karen Cross, senior v-p of marketing; Trigg McLeod, v-p of marketing; Michele Crim, director of marketing; and Beverly Fisher, director of publicity. Reporting to Naythons are Kim Wylie, senior v-p, director of national accounts in New York; Christine Barnard, v-p, director of sales in Berkeley, Calif.; and Amy Simon, director of bargain and promotional books in San Diego, Calif. As COO, McKenney will be in charge of operations, the distribution center, finance, human resources and IT. Randy Fleming, PGW's present CFO, will be stepping down from the company at the end of July.
