OCLC, the large library services organization, has sold the assets of its MetaText division to XanEdu, the college custom publishing division of ProQuest Information & Learning. OCLC acquired MetaText when it purchased netLibrary earlier this year.
MetaText's primary asset is more than 250 digital textbooks. "This acquisition is strategic to XanEdu's vision of being the leading provider of customized learning materials for the higher education market," said Lew Gossage, XanEdu senior v-p and general manager. The MetaText digital texts will be integrated with other electronic and print materials offered through XanEdu's CoursePack service.
