Two former LPC clients have found new homes at National Book Network in Lanham, Md.— McBooks Press in Ithaca, N.Y., and Enigma Books in England. One of LPC's largest creditors, McBooks plans to issue all titles originally announced in April. According to NBN president Jed Lyons, "We are expediting both inventory transfers to our warehouse and sales materials for the 2002 season." Twenty-two year-old McBooks was founded by Alexander Skutt and specializes in nautical fiction, regional photography books, and vegan and vegetarian titles. Among its best-known writers are Alexander Kent, author of the Richard Bolito series, and Dudley Pope, author of the Lord Rampage novels.
Three-year-old Enigma was started by a group of publishing professionals, including publisher Robert Miller, to issue works on contemporary history, such as Paul Aussaresses's recently released look at the struggle in Algeria, The Battle of the Casbah: Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism in Algeria, 1955-1957. In the winter, NBN will also begin distributing Justin, Charles & Company, a start-up publisher based in Boston and founded by Stephen Hull, formerly of Zoland Books, which will publish literary fiction and nonfiction and mysteries.
