Karen Rinaldi, editorial director of Bloomsbury in New York, has been named publisher of Bloomsbury USA, effective December 1. She will succeed Alan Wherry, founder and executive director of Bloomsbury and currently publisher of Bloombury USA, who is retiring at the end of November. Wherry will continue to work with Bloomsbury USA as a consultant.
Wherry said he was "lucky" to have been able to launch Bloomsbury twice, first in the U.K. and then in the U.S. "To do it a second time, with Bloomsbury in America, was something very special," he said. Rinaldi joined Bloomsbury in 1999 as its first U.S.-based editor.
