Little, Brown children's book division publisher David Ford moved quickly to replace Maria Modugno as editor-in-chief of the division by promoting Megan Tingley to the newly created position of v-p, associate publisher and editor-in-chief. Modugno resigned from LB earlier this month. Bill Boedeker, v-p of marketing, has also been named associate publisher; he will spearhead the creation of a new paperback program.
Tingley, who has been at LB for 15 years, will continue to acquire titles for her own imprint, Megan Tingley Books, while also overseeing the entire children's publishing program.
Allison Devlin, publicity director for the children's division, said that while LB has published paperbacks on a selective basis, it plans to develop a more cohesive program that will include the formation of a paperback imprint. "Paperback publishing is an area we've identified for growth," Devlin said. The company has had a notable paperback success this year with the Gossip Girls series by Cecily Von Ziegesar.
