The managers of BookExpo America have confirmed that Washington, D.C., will be the show's host city in 2006. The convention will run May 19—21.
In a poll conducted by BEA that sought public opinion about a number of cities it was considering adding to the rotation, Washington rated very high, said show manager Greg Topalian. "We've been hearing for years the industry's interest in returning to the nation's capital. BEA's city survey confirmed it, and the newly expanded convention center can accommodate us. Washington is a strong book market and a great destination town, and there's a deep nostalgia for the book community in Washington," Topalian said.
After this year's convention in Los Angeles, BEA will be held in Chicago in 2004 and moves back to New York in 2005.
