Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing has announced the appointment of Bethany Buck to v-p and editorial director of Simon Pulse, its teen paperback imprint. In her new position, Buck will oversee the acquisition and development of original and reprint paperback fiction and will report to Robin Corey, executive v-p and publisher of novelty, media tie-ins and teen publishing.
Buck, who had been associate editorial director at Scholastic, succeeds Eloise Flood, who had been moved to the head of Simon Pulse following a reorganization of children's paperbacks, but resigned soon after the appointment (News, Apr. 14).
In other S&S news, Karen Wojtyla will join the staff July 9 at Margaret K. McElderry Books in the newly created position of senior editor. Wojtyla was formerly executive editor at Knopf, Delacorte and Dell Books for Young Readers and edited works by such authors as Joan Aiken, David Almond and Robert Cormier.
