Publishers Group West plumped up its children's list with the addition of Chrysalis Children's Books from the U.K. and two recently launched children's divisions from long-time PGW clients—Classic Children's Books from New York Review Books and Red Rattle from Soft Skull Press. Other new PGW lines include previously self-distributed Squaresville Productions, publisher of Mr. Show—What Happened?! The Complete Story & Episode Guide by Naomi Odenkirk, which ties in with the release of HBO's DVD of the second season of Mr. Show, "America's Monty Python"; Sanctuary Publishing Limited, which is part of the Sanctuary Group in London, England, and focuses on pop culture and music titles, such as John Lennon and the FBI File; inspirational and personal growth publisher Inner Ocean Publishing based in Hawaii; and Income Dynamics Inc., in Omaha, Neb., publishers of Its Deductible, which will be available to the trade for the first time.
In other news, Consortium Books Sales & Distribution continues to add new publishers to its roster of 75 indie presses. Starting September 1, it will extend its dramatic reach by adding London drama and theater publisher Methuen Publishing Ltd. to its bag in both the U.S. and Canada. Consortium already represents performing arts publisher Theatre Communications Group.
