The Free Press and Ballantine Books' Presidio Press imprint have named new senior editors.
Martin Beiser will join the Free Press August 4, reporting to Dominick Anfuso, v-p, and editorial director of the unit. Beiser has been the managing editor of GQ magazine, where he brought in a broad range of writers, including Peter Mayle, Joe Queenan and Thomas Mallon. Anfuso said Beiser will focus on acquiring narrative nonfiction in such areas as current events, history and politics.
Ron Doering joined Ballantine's Presidio imprint earlier this month. He had been editor at the Military Book Club. Doering will report to Ballantine editor-in-chief Nancy Miller.
