Franklin Electronic Publishers reported sales of $15 million in the first quarter ended June 30, down from $16.5 million in the comparable period one year earlier, as sales to U.S. consumers decreased and the shipment of some custom products were moved to later in the year.
Despite the lower sales, the company was able to increase its net income to $280,000 from $157,000 in the first quarter of the prior year, in part by lowering its operating expenses.
