Borders Group has named a former Ford executive to run the merchandising and marketing of music and DVDs/videos. Peter Faricy has been appointed v-p, multimedia marketing for the company, whose superstores carry about 24,000 music titles and more than 7,000 DVDs. The company's music business has struggled in recent quarters, although sales of DVDs have been strong. Faricy, who joined Borders August 29, reports to Mike Spinozzi, v-p and chief marketing officer. He fills a spot left by the departure of Len Cosimano earlier this year.
At Ford, Faricy had been regional operations manager for the Detroit area. He had also served as director of business development for Ford North America and director of the corporate initiatives office. Before joining Ford, Faricy had been with McKinsey, where he specialized in consulting on the retail sector.
