Though it was a late addition to Knopf's fall list, Rick Bragg's I Am a Soldier, Too: The Jessica Lynch Story, is making up for lost time. From the 19-page Time cover story and excerpt (November 17), to Lynch's 90-minute ABC Primetime Live interview with Diane Sawyer the night the book went on sale and the highly rated November 9 TV movie, the tale of Lynch's capture and dramatic rescue has clearly seized the country's attention. Lynch also has done a two-part Today interview with Katie Couric, been the subject of a People profile and a Vanity Fair feature and even appeared on Late Night with David Letterman. Bragg, a Pulitzer Prize—winner for journalism, chronicled the lives of his mother and grandfather, respectively, in the acclaimed All Over but the Shoutin' and Ava's Man. Knopf shipped its 500,000-copy printing of I Am a Soldier, Too to land on November 11, Veterans' Day.
