Beginning in January, Harcourt Supplemental Publishers will complete the integration of its Rigby and Steck-Vaughn imprints with the relocation of Rigby's Barrington, Ill., editorial offices to Steck-Vaughn's headquarters in Austin, Tex. Harcourt spokesperson Rick Blake noted that with the exception of its editorial functions, all other Rigby activities, such as marketing and administration, already had been moved to Austin. "This will complete the consolidation," Blake said.
He added that Harcourt "remains fully committed" to keeping the Rigby and Steck-Vaughn editorial identities distinct. As part of that commitment, Laura Strom, v-p and managing editor for Rigby, will relocate to Austin along with an unspecified number of other employees. The Barrington office has a staff of about 70. Closing the Barrington office is one of the first moves made by Julie McGee since she was named to the new position of CEO of the Harcourt Supplemental, Professional and Trade group.
