Bill Gaden has been named v-p, sales and subsidiary rights for Simon & Schuster's children's publishing division. Gaden will join S&S January 5 and report to Rick Richter, president of the children's group.
In the new post, Gaden will pick up some of the duties of Alan Smagler, who resigned as associate publisher in October. Gaden will be responsible for developing new revenue streams through traditional and nontraditional avenues, including licensing, retail partnerships and brand development. Most recently, he was senior v-p for marketing and consumer products for BBC Worldwide Americas and also had been with Golden Books.
