Publishers Weekly and the American Booksellers Association have entered into an agreement that will offer PW to ABA members at a special subscription rate.
The agreement will also provide the ABA with several pages of advertising space in PW throughout the year, as well as banner space on the newly redesigned PW Web site. The subscription agreement will also provide the ABA membership with access to PW's Web site and its databases and archives of articles. Also, as part of the agreement, the ABA will provide support for PW's annual Bookseller of the Year Award this year at BookExpo America in Chicago.
Joe Tessitore, v-p and group publisher for PW, said the strategic partnership will enable the ABA to improve its communication with publishers and highlight the importance of the independent bookstore channel. "We have always had a strong focus on independent booksellers in PW," Tessitore said.
Oren Teicher, COO of the ABA, said the new partnership is "a perfect example of the kind of collaborative effort called for in our current strategic plan."
