No stranger to bestseller lists, though it's been a while (1997, to be exact), Edward Rutherfurd lands in the #6 spot with
The Princes of Ireland: The Dublin Saga, the first installment of a series. This book covers 11 centuries, stopping at the 16th; the next volume will take the story into the 20th century. Doubleday has 143,000 copies after two printings; the author begins his U.S. tour March 15 and will be in New York City on St. Patrick's Day. Marketing efforts include a Win a Trip to Ireland contest in conjunction with Tourism Ireland and cross-promotion with ReJoyce Dublin 2004, the centennial celebration of Bloomsday, which gets underway in Dublin next month and runs through August. Back in 1997, Rutherfurd enjoyed a 19-week run with his bestseller London.
