Brenda Bowen will move to Hyperion Books for Children on April 12 as v-p and editor-in-chief. The position of editor-in-chief was created following the departure late last year of Liza Baker, who had been editorial director, said Lisa Holton, senior v-p, global books, Disney Publishing Worldwide. In the new post, Bowen will manage all editorial projects for Hyperion and its Jump at the Sun, Volo and Miramax Books imprints.
Holton told PW she decided to create the new post to reflect the growth of Hyperion, which will publish about 100 titles this year, as well as to acknowledge that Disney now considers Hyperion to be a strategic asset.
Bowen has held editorial positions at a number of children's publishers and most recently was publisher of hardcover books at Simon & Schuster. At S&S, she oversaw the launch of Olivia and the Spiderwick Chronicles, and the relaunch of Eloise.
