Children's booksellers at the regional trade shows will have a multitude of galleys to pick up, including a mix of big-name and first-time authors. Here's a preview of some of the giveaways that can be found.

HarperCollins will be giving away Abarat: Days of Magic, Nights of War by Clive Barker, the continuation of the adventures that began in Abarat, as well as The Legend of Holly Claus by Brittany Ryan, in which Santa Claus is granted a special wish (at MSIBA, PNBA, SCCBA and SEBA). The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness: Wolf Brother by Michelle Paver, an adventure series debut; Joyce Carol Oates's latest novel, Sexy; the second book in the Oracle Prophecies series, The Sphere of Secrets by Catherine Fisher; and Septimus Heap Book One: Magyk by Angie Sage, a fantasy series debut will be available at a large number of regionals and book festivals.

Houghton Mifflin will be sending Vanishing Point by

Louise Hawes, a historical novel, to SEBA; and Thin Wood Walls by

David Patneaude, which takes place around the bombing of Pearl Harbor, to PNBA. The Walter Lorraine imprint will have Offsides by

Erik Esckilsen, about a boy who must make a tough decision, available at NEBA, and I Can't Tell You by

Hillary

Frank, a paperback original from the Graphia imprint will be available at nine shows.

Hyperion will be handing out Peter and the Starcatchers by

Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, a prequel to Peter Pan, at MSIBA, SEBA and NAIBA; Sing a Song of Tuna Fish: Hard to Swallow Stories from Fifth Grade by

Esme Raji Codell, a memoir, at GLBA and UMBA; titles in the That's So Raven series at NAIBA and NEBA; The Artemis Fowl Files by

Eoin Colfer, a guide to this series at NAIBA and NCIBA; The Cryptid Hunters by

Roland Smith, an adventure novel; books in the W.I.T.C.H. series at PNBA; and Honey Bea by

Kim Siegelson, a story that contains both fantasy and fairy tale elements, at SEBA. Son of the Mob: Hollywood Hustle by

Gordon Korman, a sequel; The Million Dollar Strike! by

Dan Gutman, a story in the Million Dollar series; Santa's Kwanzaa by

Garen Eileen Thomas, which celebrates two holidays, and Snow Dude by

Daniel Kirk, a winter adventure, will be given away at NAIBA. GLBA will have copies of Liberty's Journey by

Kelly DiPucchio, illustrated by Richard Egielski, a tale that takes Lady Liberty out of New York; and The Legend of Spud Murphy by

Eoin Colfer, a new series aimed at younger readers, while NEBA will have John's Secret Dreams: The Life of John Lennon by

Doreen Rappaport, illustrated by Bryan Collier; and Skin Again by

bell hooks, a picture book about acceptance.

Penguin Young Readers Group is sending four titles to all the regional trade shows this fall. Philomel has two titles: Scorpia: An Alex Rider Adventure by

Anthony Horowitz, and Olivia Kidney and the Exit Academy by

Ellen Potter, a follow-up to last year's Olivia Kidney. Dutton's Looking forAlaska by

John Green is a debut novel about love and loss in boarding school, and Prom by

Laurie Halse Anderson(Viking) is a new book from the Newbery Honor novelist.

Random House will be sending a handful of galleys to eight shows this fall. The Five Ancestors: Tiger Book #1 by

Jeff Stone is about a boy who must uncover secrets of his past; Knopf's title The Last Shot is a basketball novel by

John Feinstein; Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood by

Ann

Brashares follows the Sisterhood girls through the summer before they leave for college; and another Delacorte title, Bras & Broomsticks by

Sarah Mlynowski, is about a girl whose younger sister has magical powers.

Scholastic will have galleys of six titles available at all 10 regional shows. From Scholastic Press is Here Today by

Ann M. Martin, a novel set in 1963, and Becoming Naomi Leon by

Pam Muñoz Ryan, about a girl whose mother reappears after being gone seven years. The Chicken House imprint will be giving out Dragon Rider by

Cornelia Funke, a new fantasy from the author of The Thief Lord. Orchard will be handing out The Children of the Lamp: The Akhenaten Adventure by

P.B. Kerr, the first in an adventure trilogy. Arthur Levine Books has two titles: King of the Middle March by

Kevin Crossley-Holland, the final installment in the Arthur trilogy, and The Meanwhile Adventures by

Roddy Doyle, the finale to the Mack Family tales.

Simon & Schuster is sending five titles to all 10 shows this fall. Shrimp by

Rachel Cohn is a sequel to Gingerbread. Available from the McElderry imprint are Indigo's Star by

Hilary McKay, a sequel to Saffy's Angel, and The Magician's Boy by

Susan Cooper, illustrated by Serena Riglietti. Richard Jackson Books has The Sea of Trolls by

Nancy Farmer, a Viking adventure, and Atheneum will be giving out The Lake of Skulls: A Knight's Story by

Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell, the first in a knightly adventure series.

And at UMBA, the Starscape imprint of

Tor will be giving away Clabbernappers, a comic adventure by

Len Bailey.
