Penguin's politically conservative Sentinel imprint is off to a great start. Its second book, Ronald Kessler's
A Matter of Character: Inside the White House of George W. Bush, debuted on all the national charts—#12 on PW's list—in its first full week of sales. The publisher is up to 93,000 copies in print after seven trips to press. The author of multiple bestsellers about the FBI and the CIA, Kessler, according to Penguin, "obtained extraordinary, unprecedented access to the Bush White House" for this book, which features interviews with top Bush officials Rove, Powell, Rumsfeld, Rice, Card, etc. The author has been in demand as the Republicans gear up for their convention and has appeared on Fox's Hannity & Colmes, The O'Reilly Factor and CNN's American Morning and Paula Zahn Now.
