Llewellyn Worldwide, best known for publishing a wide range of New Age titles, is adding a mystery imprint. The pub date for the first five releases under the still unnamed imprint is fall 2005. The mysteries will range in style from detective novels to legal thrillers, but "for the most part will not involve the paranormal or witchcraft themes," said Llewellyn publicity manager Alison Aten.
Sandra Weschcke, Llewellyn's copublisher, said the company decided to diversify into adult mysteries after having success with a new YA fiction imprint, Diadem: Worlds of Magic. "We would not have done this if we hadn't done the teen line first," she said. Llewellyn will debut the mystery imprint at BEA 2005 in New York City. The first release under this imprint is Whiskey on the Rocks, a mystery set at a Lake Michigan resort, by debut novelist Nina Wright. Barbara Moore is the acquiring editor for the mystery line.
