Veteran magazine publisher Bill McGorry has been named executive v-p and publisher of Reed Business Information's publishing group, home to Publishers Weekly as well as PW's affiliated publications Library Journal, School Library Journal and Críticas. McGorry, who was most recently executive v-p for licensing and electronic development for RBI, had served as head of RBI's television and telecommunications group.
McGorry succeeds Joe Tessitore, who resigned as publishing group head. During his tenure, Tessitore moved the publishing group's electronic publishing strategy forward, including overseeing the redesign of the PW, LJ and SLJ Web sites, which now feature more original content and better accessibility. McGorry said he is "pleased to have the opportunity to be a part of the leading magazines in the publishing world. I have a healthy respect for the brands that have been built and look forward to exploring new electronic publishing opportunities as well as expanding the print franchise to better serve our readers and advertisers." McGorry, who has won numerous awards from the cable industry, will report to Tad Smith, president of RBI's media division.
