One of the largest private treatment organizations, Hazelden in Center City, Minn., recently extended its distribution agreement with HCI Communications for another five years. This year also marks the 50th anniversary of Hazelden's publishing program, which it launched in 1954 with Richmond Walker's Twenty-Four Hours a Day.
Tuttle Publishing in North Clarendon, Vt., is extending its reach in martial arts with a new agreement with martial arts expert Maurice Elmalem, author of The Will Power (Budo International Publishing) on fitness and conditioning. Elmalem holds seven world records documented by the Guinness Book of World Records, which named him "A Renaissance Man." Other recent Tuttle distribution clients include Tokyo-based Kotan, which specializes in Asian literature and art, and Equinox Publishing, an Indonesian publisher of fiction, nonfiction and illustrated works.
The newly relaunched Liverpool University Press, which was recently incorporated as a commercial business after 105 years, has chosen the University of Chicago Press to market and distribute its books in North America, starting this month. In addition, LUP has appointed Troika to handle British sales and DA Information Services as exclusive agents in Australia and New Zealand. Marston Book Services will handle distribution for LUP's books and journals in the U.K.
