Hired earlier this year with a mandate to focus on children's publishing, Vivian Antonangeli, COO of multimedia software publisher Brighter Child Interactive, announced the creation of a new publishing unit, Brighter Minds Children's Publishing. BCI also announced the hiring of John Molish, who has previously worked with Ballantine Books, St. Martin's Press and Penguin, as executive sales director of BMCP.
Antonangeli said the new publishing unit will begin releasing titles in January under three imprints: Brighter Minds, which will focus on educational books; Little Melody Press, offering music CDs with books; and Penny Candy Press, which will feature interactive books, board books and story books.
Molish told PW the Columbus, Ohio—based BMCP will publish about six Little Melody titles, 10 Brighter Minds titles and 10 Penny Candy books over the next year. Its titles will be distributed by CDS. "We're putting titles out using our current staff plus the help of book packagers," said Molish. "But as the list and the business grows we'll be adding more people."
