No stranger to bestseller charts—books or music—Jimmy Buffett lands on this week's PW chart in the #3 spot with his latest book hit,
A Salty Piece of Land. According to Nielsen BookScan, Salty sold about 68,000 copies in its opening week. The sales volume and positive response for the book were enough to send Little, Brown back to press: after a hefty 715,000-copy first printing, three additional printings of 25,000 copies each makes for 790,000 books in print. Buffett fans will enjoy the musical bonus: packaged in each copy of the book is a CD containing the titular song. In an innovative book/music synergy, LB worked with Regal Cinemas and others do a national simulcast of a live performance by Buffett and his Beach Band that included readings from his book and audience q&as. The publisher worked with local booksellers to sell books at the venues. Buffett will be on EllenDeGeneres on January 3.
