Malcolm Gladwell is having a very good week. His newest book, Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, has gotten a lot of press, including a cover story in January's Fast Company magazine ("your gut is smarter than your head" is how it described Gladwell's message). Reviews have been excellent, including a starred one in PW. In a front-page review in Sunday's New York TimesBook Review, the reviewer noted: "...if you want to trust my snap judgment, buy this book: you'll be delighted." Gladwell is doing a 30-city tour (details at www.gladwell.com), and upcoming media appearances include Charlie Rose and Jane Pauley in February. Little, Brown reports 425,000 copies in print after five trips to press. Gladwell's earlier The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference, is #16 on PW's trade paperback bestseller list this week. Back Bay went back to press for a 100,000-copy ninth printing, bringing the total to 725,000. Says Little, Brown, "This 'tips' the book past the million mark in combined hardcover and paperback."
