Criticas, the bimonthly publication covering Spanish-language publishing, is being revamped into an e-newsletter. The magazine, a sister publication of PW, will shift to a monthly schedule and will be e-mailed free to subscribers, beginning in September. The e-newsletter will be complemented by two print publications: one will be published in June to coincide with BookExpo America and ALA, and the other in October for distribution at the Guadalajara Book Fair. The new e-Criticas will continue to feature reviews of Spanish-language books, as well as news and analysis of the Spanish-language market.
Carmen Ospina, associate editor of Criticas, will oversee both the print and electronic editions. Adriana Lopez, the founding editor of the magazine, has resigned. William McGorry, executive v-p of the Reed Publishing Group (which includes PW, LJ and SLJ), said the change will result in the delivery of more reviews in a timelier manner.
