Redwood Audiobooks and compact disk company STI Certified Products are launching HealthText Audio, a new audiobook series focused on health and wellness topics to be copublished by the companies. Audio titles in the new line will be abridged editions of popular works. Each title will run three hours on three CDs and will retail for $22.95. National Book Network is slated to distribute to the book trade.
Among the first eight titles, debuting in June, are: Eat, Drink, and Be Healthy: The Harvard Medical School Guide to Healthy Eatingby Walter C. Willett and P.J. Skerrett; The First Year: Type 2 Diabetes: An Essential Guide for the Newly Diagnosed by Gretchen Baker; and The Mother of All Pregnancy Books: The Ultimate Guide to Conception, Birth, and Everything in Between by Ann Douglas.
"These are the books we turn to when confronted with medical challenges or when managing our general wellness," said Redwood copublisher Lawrence Bauman. "Our goal is to make this information more accessible to more people."
Though it represents new subject matter, HealthText is not an unfamiliar undertaking for the Mendocino, Calif.— based Redwood, which is also copublisher of such technical audio lines as McGraw-Hill Audio, Wiley Audio and Audio Scholar.
