(Measured in $ sales against same time periods, 2004) Helped by the release of The Broker, sales of mass market paperbacks jumped 44.0% in November and were up 1.9% for the first 11 months of 2005, according to the AAP's monthly estimates. With only one month to go, AAP's estimates indicate that most publishing segments will post gains in the year. The children's hardcover segment, with a substantial boost from Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, will finish 2005 with strong gains, though the final number will be below the 68.0% increase registered through November. The elhi segment is on track to hit projections of a sales gain over 10%, while the religious book segment seems unlikely to post a third year of big gains. | ||
