Shandler Up At Alloy
Sara Shandler has been promoted to senior editor at Alloy Entertainment. Author of Ophelia Speaks, Shandler has edited the bestselling Gossip Girl and It Girl series since joining Alloy in 2003. Before that, Shandler worked for Seventeen magazine. Her promotion comes in the wake of Ben Schrank's move to Penguin.
Purdy to OUP
Christian Purdy has been named director of publicity at Oxford University Press. Purdy, who worked for Oxford from 1992 through 2000, was most recently doing freelance publicity work for Princeton University Press and Basic Books.
Additionally, Aly Mostel has been promoted from associate publicist to publicist for OUP and Darren Shannon from publicist to senior publicist.
Grann Gets WMG Board Seat
Apparently not content to stick to book publishing, Phyllis Grann is taking a seat on Warner Music Group's board of directors, where she'll sit on its audit committee. The one-time head of Putnam and Penguin is now a senior editor at Doubleday.
Izarek Up at Scholastic Mag
Stephanie Izarek has been promoted from executive editor to editor-in-chief of Scholastic Parent & Child. The magazine, which has an audience of more than 7.5 million, focuses on advice for parents of children up to age 12.
Gonnason to Ten Speed
Hayley Gonnason has joined Ten Speed Press's Tricycle Press imprint as publicist. Gonnason arrives at Ten Speed after finishing a journalism internship at the Connecticut newspaper, the Greenwich Post.
Horan Heads To Harcourt
Peter Horan has been named publicist at Harcourt. Horan arrives from St. Martin's Press, where he worked for the past two years.
