Scinta Up at Fulcrum
Sam Scinta has been promoted from associate publisher to president and publisher of Golden, Colo.—based Fulcrum Publishing. Company founder Bob Baron, who will remain chairman, has let go of many of his responsibilities to pursue nonprofit and environmental work.
Radwell Rises At Scholastic
Seth Radwell has been appointed president of the Scholastic at Home division. Radwell, who joined Scholastic from Bookspan in 2005 to head the company's e-commerce business, will handle Scholastic at Home's migration to the Internet. He succeeds Judy Newman, who maintains her post as president of the book club group.
Forland, Cure to Globe Pequot
Inger Forland has joined Globe Pequot Press as executive director of marketing, publicity and design. Forland has held a variety of senior marketing positions at Time-Life and Octopus Publishing Group, USA. Karen Cure is also joining Globe Pequot as editorial director, travel. Cure previously worked at Fodor's.
Blum to Ballantine
Kate Blum has joined Ballantine Books as assistant director of publicity. Most recently at Random House, where she was publicity manager of the publisher's flagship imprint, Blum has worked on campaigns for Anna Quindlen and Curtis Sittenfeld.
Norton Hires Murphy
Joe Murphy, longtime head book buyer at Olsson's, has signed on as a sales representative at W.W. Norton. Murphy, who was at the Washington, D.C.—based independent bookseller for 11 years, will move to Southern California to handle that territory for Norton. He'll begin at the start of 2007.
Zika to Bookspan
Christine Zika has joined Bookspan as executive editor of Madison Park Press. Arriving from Berkley Publishing, where she was a senior editor, Zika will acquire and edit titles for Madison Park Press and Doubleday Entertainment Book Clubs.
