This year BEA attendees will see more of New York City than just Manhattan, because the Hotel ABA is the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn at 333 Adams Street. Conveniently, Hotel ABA is located across the street from a subway stop. Trips to and from Manhattan should take only about 15 to 20 minutes by subway.
If you're thinking you can avoid Brooklyn and/or a subway ride, you should know that the four-day prospective booksellers school, Thursday's Day of Education and that evening's Celebration of Bookselling will all be held at Hotel ABA. Those taking the subway from Manhattan will get on the downtown A, C or F train and get off at Jay Street. There will be shuttle buses to and from all hotels to the Javits Convention Center. Those arriving on Wednesday won't want to miss former Brooklyn native David McCullough talking about his hometown at the Hotel ABA from 2—3 p.m. And you can help raise money for Get Caught Reading by attending Friday night's Rock Bottom Remainders concert at 9 p.m. at Webster Hall (125 E. 11th St.), featuring those well-known musicians Stephen King, Mitch Albom, Amy Tan and Frank McCourt.
